Lyons Mentoring Middle School Students

Monthly I visit middle school students at Attucks Middle School, speaking to them about getting their education, staying out of trouble and peer pressure. A lot of the boys love for me to come so they can ask questions about football, my offers and if I have decided on a college. Of course many of them have their favorites that they feel I should select. Many talk to me about how I balance school and sports. One in particular asked if I would tutor him and help him develop better study habits, yes, he is my favorite because he wants to do better. I am so blessed to have the abilities to reach out to these guys and assist them.
Being dual enrolled allows me the flexibility to visit during school hours, so I have a chance to assist them with work they are working on while the teacher is explaining it to them. So it really works out nice. The principal, Ms. Carle Shaw is really nice and I am grateful she has opened her school to me, giving me the opportunity to work with the students.

Florida State's Coach Stoops and Coach Gran visited me at my high school in early January to inform me that even though they were new to Florida State, didn't even have their business cards yet, they were big on me and was offering me a full scholarship. They are very interested in keeping me in the state of Florida.

Lyons Receives 2 Big 10 Offers

Today, I received a visit from Coach Fickell from The Ohio State. Very happy to announce that they in deed offered me a scholarship and informed me that Coach Tressel will be visiting me next week.
Yesterday, Coach Partridge from Wisconsin stopped by my high school to inform me that they too are offering me and he would like for me to come out and visit. Being that I'm from Florida he wants me to think beyond the distance and weather and give Wisconsin a serious look.

Wayne Lyons named a Army All-American for 2011

It was so much fun being on the sidelines at the 10th Annual Army All-American Bowl Game and being named an Army All-American for 2011 in front of 34,000 plus people. I cannot wait until next year when I play in that game. I'm looking forward to representing the East in that game. This is a video of the announcement at the game.

Wayne Lyons named Defensive MVP at Army National Combine

This is the award I was presented with after being named "Defensive MVP" at the 2010 Army National Combine. It was an great honor being selected as there was 500 kids at the combine and a lot of great athletes with plenty of talent and skills. I had a great time, although it was freezing in San Antonio, Texas.
